Crispy Mozzarella Sticks

These crispy mozzarella sticks are golden and crunchy on the outside, with warm, gooey, stretchy cheese inside. They are easy to make and perfect for serving as an appetizer, snack, or party favorite.

Ingredients

12 mozzarella string cheese sticks

1 cup all purpose flour

2 eggs

1 cup breadcrumbs

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon paprika

Salt and black pepper to taste

Oil for frying

Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

Cut the mozzarella sticks in half if you prefer smaller pieces.

Prepare three bowls. Place the flour in the first bowl. Beat the eggs in the second. In the third bowl, combine breadcrumbs, Parmesan, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and black pepper.

Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, followed by the breadcrumb mixture. For extra crispy and secure coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating once more.

Place the coated mozzarella sticks on a tray and freeze for at least 1 hour. This helps prevent the cheese from melting too quickly while cooking.

Heat oil in a deep pan to about 350°F (175°C).

Fry the mozzarella sticks in small batches for about 1 to 2 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden and crispy.

Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Tips for Perfect Mozzarella Sticks

Do not skip the freezing step. It helps keep the cheese inside while the coating becomes crispy.

Make sure the cheese is completely covered with breadcrumbs, especially around the ends.

Avoid overcrowding the pan when frying.

Serve them while hot for the best crispy texture and gooey cheese pull.
