This is my signature dish for church suppers, and my friends at church absolutely rave about it

Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti

This comforting Slow Cooker Church Supper Spaghetti is a hearty, crowd-pleasing meal that’s perfect for potlucks, family dinners, or Sunday gatherings. It’s full of tender pasta, rich tomato sauce, and savory ground beef — slow-cooked to perfection for that classic homemade flavor that everyone loves. Best of all, it’s made almost entirely in your slow cooker, so it’s as easy as it is delicious!

Ingredients:

IngredientQuantity
Lean ground beef1 lb
Onion, finely chopped1 medium
Garlic, minced3 cloves
Tomato sauce2 cans (15 oz each)
Diced tomatoes (undrained)1 can (14.5 oz)
Tomato paste1 can (6 oz)
Italian seasoning1 tablespoon
Sugar1 teaspoon
Salt1 teaspoon
Black pepper½ teaspoon
Water or beef broth1 cup
Spaghetti (uncooked)12 oz
Shredded mozzarella cheese1 cup
Grated Parmesan cheese½ cup
Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)To taste

Instructions:

  1. Brown the Beef:
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and onion together until the meat is browned and the onions are translucent. Drain off any excess fat.
  2. Add Garlic and Seasonings:
Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Combine in Slow Cooker:
Transfer the beef mixture to your slow cooker. Add the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and water or broth. Stir everything together until well combined.
  4. Slow Cook:
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or on HIGH for 3–4 hours.
    (Your kitchen will smell incredible!)
  5. Add Pasta:
About 30–40 minutes before serving, break the uncooked spaghetti into halves and stir it into the slow cooker mixture. Make sure the pasta is submerged in the sauce.
If the mixture is too thick, add a little more water or broth.
  6. Finish with Cheese:
Once the spaghetti is tender, stir in the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese. Let it sit for 5 minutes to melt and blend into the sauce.
  7. Serve:
Spoon into bowls and garnish with fresh basil or parsley. Serve with garlic bread and a simple salad for a complete meal.

Pro Tips:

  • For extra flavor, add ½ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes or 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce to the sauce.
  • Substitute Italian sausage for half of the ground beef for a heartier flavor.
  • If you prefer firmer pasta, cook the spaghetti separately and mix it into the sauce just before serving.
