Texas Trash Dip: Step-by-Step Recipe

Texas Trash Dip is a warm, creamy, cheesy bean dip loaded with flavor. It is perfect for parties, game nights, or any gathering where you need a crowd-pleasing appetizer. This baked dip comes together quickly and delivers bold Tex-Mex taste in every bite.


Ingredients

  • 2 cans (16 oz each) refried beans
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1 can (4 oz) diced green chiles, drained
  • Optional toppings: sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, diced tomatoes, cilantro

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Base

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the refried beans, softened cream cheese, sour cream, and taco seasoning.
  3. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth and well blended.

Step 2: Add Flavor and Cheese

Stir in the diced green chiles, half of the cheddar cheese, and half of the Monterey Jack cheese. Mix until everything is evenly incorporated.

Step 3: Transfer to Baking Dish

Spread the mixture evenly into a baking dish (9×9 or similar size). Smooth the top with a spatula.

Step 4: Add Remaining Cheese

Sprinkle the rest of the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese evenly across the top.

Step 5: Bake the Dip

Place the dish in the oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is fully melted and bubbling around the edges.

Step 6: Add Toppings and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the dip rest for 5 minutes.
Top with sliced jalapeños, chopped green onions, diced tomatoes, or cilantro if desired.
Serve warm with tortilla chips.
