Ingredients:
- 2 lbs potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 tbsp butter
- 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 cups milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- Optional: 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese or cooked ham for extra flavor
Instructions:
- Prepare the sauce: In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in milk, stirring until thickened. Add cheese, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth and melted.
- Layer the ingredients: Grease the slow cooker. Layer half of the potatoes and onions, pour half of the sauce over them. Repeat with remaining potatoes and sauce.
- Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6ā7 hours or high for 3ā4 hours, until the potatoes are tender.
- Optional: Sprinkle with additional cheese and cook for 10 more minutes, until melted.
- Serve: Let it rest for a few minutes before serving warm.
Tip: Add diced ham or crumbled bacon between layers for a hearty main dish.
