Simple Ground Beef Casserole

This Simple Ground Beef Casserole is a comforting, family-friendly dinner—hearty, cheesy, and full of classic flavors. Perfect for busy weeknights or make-ahead meals, it’s easy to prepare, budget-friendly, and always satisfying.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups cooked pasta or sliced potatoes
  • 1 cup tomato sauce or diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional add-ins: frozen peas or corn, paprika, Italian seasoning

Instructions

1. Cook the beef

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the diced onion until browned. Drain excess fat.

2. Season and sauce

Add the tomato sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well and simmer for 2–3 minutes.

3. Assemble the casserole

In a baking dish, layer the cooked pasta or potatoes. Spread the beef mixture evenly over the top.

4. Add cheese

Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the casserole.

5. Bake

Bake uncovered for 20–25 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

6. Serve and enjoy

Let rest for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm with a simple salad or bread.


Tip: For a golden, crispy top, switch the oven to broil for the last 2–3 minutes—watch closely to avoid burning!
