Retro Breakfast-Table Sausage Crescents

These Retro Breakfast-Table Sausage Crescents are a throwback morning favorite—flaky crescent rolls wrapped around savory sausage and baked until golden. Simple, satisfying, and perfect for busy mornings or cozy weekend breakfasts, they’re always a hit with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450 g) breakfast sausage
  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Colby-Jack cheese
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • Cooking spray or parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the breakfast sausage until fully browned, breaking it into small crumbles. Drain off excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the oven and dough
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. Separate the crescent roll dough into triangles.
  3. Assemble the crescents
Sprinkle a small amount of cheese onto the wide end of each dough triangle. Top with a spoonful of cooked sausage, then add a pinch of black pepper and garlic powder if using.
  4. Roll and shape
Starting from the wide end, gently roll the dough toward the point, tucking the filling inside as you go. Curve slightly to form a crescent shape and place seam-side down on the baking sheet.
  5. Bake until golden
Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the crescents are puffed and golden brown.
  6. Serve warm
Remove from the oven and let cool for 2–3 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm on their own or with eggs and fruit on the side.

✨ Tip: For extra flavor, brush the tops with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven.
