Old-Fashioned Cafeteria Peanut Butter Candy

This classic cafeteria-style peanut butter candy is rich, sweet, and wonderfully nostalgic. Made with simple pantry ingredients, it’s a no-bake treat that sets up perfectly and tastes just like the squares served on school lunch trays.

Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 cup creamy peanut butter
2 cups powdered sugar
2 cups graham cracker crumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan
Line an 8×8-inch or 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal. Lightly grease if needed.
  2. Mix the base
In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and peanut butter. Stir until smooth and fully blended.
  3. Add dry ingredients
Gradually add the powdered sugar and graham cracker crumbs. Mix well until the mixture becomes thick, smooth, and holds together easily.
  4. Press into pan
Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish. Press it down firmly and evenly using the back of a spoon or your hands to create a compact layer.
  5. Chill to set
Refrigerate for at least 1 to 2 hours, or until fully firm.
  6. Slice and serve
Lift the candy out using the parchment paper. Cut into small squares or rectangles and serve.

Tips
For a firmer candy, chill overnight before slicing.
For extra nostalgia, cut into classic cafeteria-style squares.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
