Shredded mozzarella1 ½ cupsDivided
Cheddar cheese½ cupOptional, for a sharper flavor
Refrigerated biscuit dough or pie crust1 packageYou can also make homemade dough
Pepperoni slicesAs desiredOptional topping
Olive oil1 tablespoonFor brushing the crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish lightly with butter or oil.
  2. Cook the Beef Mixture
In a skillet, cook ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and onions are tender. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add Flavor
Stir in garlic, pizza sauce, and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for 3–4 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Assemble the Base
If using biscuit dough, press the biscuits into the bottom and sides of the pie dish, overlapping slightly to form a crust.
If using pie crust, fit it into the dish and trim any excess.
  5. Layer the Filling
Spoon the beef mixture evenly into the crust. Sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella and cheddar over the top. Add pepperoni slices if desired.
  6. Bake the Pie
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  7. Add Final Touches
Sprinkle with the remaining ½ cup mozzarella, brush the crust edges lightly with olive oil, and bake for another 5 minutes to melt the cheese beautifully.
  8. Cool Slightly and Serve
Let the pie cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm with a side salad or garlic bread.

Serving Tips

  • Top with fresh basil or parsley for color and freshness.
  • Add mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers to make it even more “pizza-like.”
  • Great for leftovers — just reheat in the oven to keep the crust crispy.
