Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips or chopped milk chocolate
  • 1 cup crispy rice cereal
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or butter (for smooth melting)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt (optional, enhances chocolate flavor)

Equipment Needed

  • Medium microwave-safe bowl or heatproof bowl
  • Silicone spatula or spoon
  • 8×8-inch baking pan
  • Parchment paper

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Pan
Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang on the sides for easy removal. Set aside.

Step 2: Melt the Chocolate
Place the chocolate chips and coconut oil (or butter) in a heatproof bowl.

  • Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth.
    OR
  • Melt gently over a double boiler, stirring constantly.

Step 3: Add Flavoring
Stir in vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using. This step is optional but adds depth to the chocolate flavor.

Step 4: Fold in the Crunch
Add the crispy rice cereal to the melted chocolate. Gently fold until all the cereal is evenly coated without crushing it.

Step 5: Spread and Set
Pour the mixture into the prepared pan. Use a spatula to spread it evenly and press lightly to compact the mixture.

Step 6: Chill
Place the pan in the refrigerator for 1–2 hours, or until completely set and firm.

Step 7: Slice and Serve
Lift the bars out using the parchment paper. Cut into squares or rectangles with a sharp knife. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Tips for Perfect Crunch Bars

  • Use good-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • Don’t overheat the chocolate—it can seize and become grainy.
  • For extra indulgence, drizzle melted dark chocolate over the top before chilling.
  • Store bars in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
