Garbage Bread is a fun, hearty stuffed bread packed with meats, cheese, and vegetables, all rolled up in pizza dough and baked until golden. Itās perfect for using up leftovers and makes a great game-day snack, casual dinner, or party food.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup cooked ground beef or Italian sausage
- 1/2 cup pepperoni slices, chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 1/2 cup bell peppers, diced
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Marinara sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. Prepare the Filling
In a large bowl, combine the cooked ground beef or sausage, pepperoni, mozzarella, cheddar, bacon, bell peppers, onion, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and black pepper.
Mix well so all ingredients are evenly distributed.
3. Roll Out the Dough
On a lightly floured surface, roll the pizza dough into a large rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.
4. Fill and Roll
Spread the filling evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
Starting from the long side, tightly roll the dough into a log, tucking in the sides as you go to keep the filling inside.
Pinch the seams and ends closed.
5. Transfer and Brush
Carefully place the rolled bread seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
6. Bake
Bake for 25ā30 minutes, or until the bread is deep golden brown and fully cooked.
7. Rest and Slice
Let the garbage bread rest for 5ā10 minutes before slicing.
Serve warm with marinara sauce if desired.
