Dandy-Do Cookies are a cheerful vintage favoriteāsoft, lightly spiced cookies rolled in cinnamon sugar for a sweet, crackly finish. Theyāre simple, cozy, and perfect for sharing with a cup of tea, coffee, or milk.
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- ¼ tsp salt
For rolling
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Prepare the oven and pans
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper or lightly grease them. - Cream butter and sugar
In a large bowl, beat the butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. This creates a soft cookie texture. - Add wet ingredients
Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined. - Mix dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. - Form the dough
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until a soft dough forms. Do not overmix. - Roll in cinnamon sugar
In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon. Roll tablespoon-sized portions of dough into balls, then roll each ball in the cinnamon sugar mixture. - Bake
Place dough balls on the prepared baking sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10ā12 minutes, until the edges are set and the tops are lightly crackled. - Cool and serve
Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
