Creamy Crab Rangoon Spread

This Creamy Crab Rangoon Spread has all the flavors of classic crab rangoons—rich cream cheese, sweet crab, tangy green onions, and a hint of soy—served warm as a dip. It’s easy, creamy, and perfect for parties, holidays, or game nights. Serve it with crackers, wonton chips, or toasted baguette slices.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup crab meat (imitation or real), flaked
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar (for extra cheesiness)
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions or sweet chili sauce

Instructions (Detailed)

1. Preheat your oven

Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
If you prefer a no-bake version, you can warm the spread on the stovetop instead.

2. Prepare the cream base

In a medium mixing bowl, add:

  • softened cream cheese
  • sour cream
  • mayonnaise

Use a hand mixer or a sturdy spoon to mix until smooth and creamy.
Make sure there are no lumps of cream cheese.

3. Add the seasonings

Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, sugar, and pepper.
Stir until fully combined and the mixture looks uniform.

4. Fold in the crab

Gently fold the crab meat into the creamy mixture.
Be careful not to over-mix—you want little flakes of crab throughout the spread.

5. Add green onions and optional cheese

Stir in the chopped green onions.
If you’re adding mozzarella or cheddar, fold it in now for a melty texture when baked.

6. Transfer to a baking dish

Spread the mixture evenly into a small oven-safe dish (8×8 or similar).
Smooth the top with a spatula.

7. Bake the spread

Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until:

  • the top is warm and slightly golden
  • the edges bubble gently

If you want more browning, broil for 1–2 minutes, watching closely.

8. Garnish

Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
Top with extra green onions or drizzle with a bit of sweet chili sauce for a restaurant-style touch.

9. Serve

Serve warm with:

  • crispy wonton chips
  • tortilla chips
  • crackers
  • toasted baguette slices
  • or fresh veggies
