With a buttery base and a smooth, lightly sweet cream cheese topping, these bars are simple to make yet always feel special. They’re perfect for potlucks, holidays, or whenever you want an easy dessert that everyone instantly recognizes and loves.
Ingredients
1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
2 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ cup melted butter
¼ cup granulated sugar for topping
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking surface so the squares release easily after baking.
Unroll the crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the baking dish, pinching seams together to form a smooth, even layer. Press gently into the corners to fully cover the bottom.
In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, 1 cup sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until completely smooth and creamy, with no lumps. This step is important for a silky filling.
Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent dough base, smoothing it all the way to the edges.
Unroll the remaining crescent dough and carefully place it over the cream cheese layer. Gently stretch and press to cover as evenly as possible.
Pour the melted butter evenly over the top layer of dough, making sure to coat the surface.
In a small bowl, mix the remaining ¼ cup sugar with the cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the buttered dough to create a sweet, crackly topping.
Bake for 30–35 minutes until the top is golden brown and the center is set. The edges should be lightly crisp while the middle remains soft.
Remove from the oven and allow the squares to cool completely. Cooling helps the layers set and makes slicing clean and easy.
Once cooled, cut into squares and serve.
Helpful Tips
Softened cream cheese ensures a smooth filling without lumps.
Letting the bars cool fully gives the cleanest slices.
These squares taste even better after chilling for an hour.
