Cozy Grandma’s Peanut Butter Frosting

This Cozy Grandma’s Peanut Butter Frosting is rich, creamy, and full of old-fashioned comfort. Smooth and perfectly sweet with that classic peanut butter flavor, it’s ideal for spreading on chocolate cake, brownies, cupcakes, or even sandwiching between cookies.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 2½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and peanut butter
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together until smooth, creamy, and fully blended. This creates the rich base for the frosting.
  2. Add powdered sugar gradually
Add the powdered sugar one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture will become thick and fluffy.
  3. Adjust the texture
Pour in the milk (or cream) one tablespoon at a time, beating until the frosting reaches your desired spreading consistency—smooth, light, and creamy.
  4. Flavor and finish
Beat in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using. Mix for another 1–2 minutes until airy and well combined.
  5. Use or store
Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or brownies. If needed, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature and re-whip briefly before using.

Tip: For an extra nostalgic touch, pair this frosting with chocolate cake or swirl it onto brownies while they’re still slightly warm.
