This Cozy Grandma’s Peanut Butter Frosting is rich, creamy, and full of old-fashioned comfort. Smooth and perfectly sweet with that classic peanut butter flavor, it’s ideal for spreading on chocolate cake, brownies, cupcakes, or even sandwiching between cookies.
Ingredients
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup creamy peanut butter
- 2½ cups powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp milk or cream
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt (optional, to balance sweetness)
Instructions
- Cream the butter and peanut butter
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together until smooth, creamy, and fully blended. This creates the rich base for the frosting. - Add powdered sugar gradually
Add the powdered sugar one cup at a time, beating well after each addition. The mixture will become thick and fluffy. - Adjust the texture
Pour in the milk (or cream) one tablespoon at a time, beating until the frosting reaches your desired spreading consistency—smooth, light, and creamy. - Flavor and finish
Beat in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if using. Mix for another 1–2 minutes until airy and well combined. - Use or store
Use immediately to frost cakes, cupcakes, or brownies. If needed, cover and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Bring to room temperature and re-whip briefly before using.
✨ Tip: For an extra nostalgic touch, pair this frosting with chocolate cake or swirl it onto brownies while they’re still slightly warm.
