- 1ā2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1ā2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1ā4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
- 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional, for smoother dipping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and creamy. This usually takes 2 to 3 minutes with an electric mixer.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until everything is fully combined and smooth.
- In another bowl, whisk the flour and salt together.
- Add the flour mixture gradually into the butter mixture. Mix on low speed until a soft dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a clean surface. Gently shape it into a rectangle, then cut it into thin strips about 4 to 5 inches long and 1ā2 inch wide.
- Place each dough stick onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them so they bake evenly.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The sticks should stay pale in the center.
- Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the sticks cool completely. They will firm up as they cool.
- Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted and smooth. Add the vegetable oil if you want a shinier, thinner chocolate coating.
- Dip one end of each cookie stick into the melted chocolate. Let the excess drip off.
- Place the dipped sticks back on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set. You can place the tray in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to speed up the process.
- Once the chocolate is firm, serve immediately or store the sticks in an airtight container.
