Chocolate Sticks Recipe

Chocolate sticks are simple, crisp, buttery cookies dipped in smooth melted chocolate. They’re perfect for snacking, gifting, or serving alongside coffee or tea. With a tender texture and rich chocolate coating, these treats are easy to prepare and require only a few basic ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1⁄2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1⁄2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1⁄2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1⁄4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional, for smoother dipping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and creamy. This usually takes 2 to 3 minutes with an electric mixer.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract. Continue mixing until everything is fully combined and smooth.
  4. In another bowl, whisk the flour and salt together.
  5. Add the flour mixture gradually into the butter mixture. Mix on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  6. Transfer the dough to a clean surface. Gently shape it into a rectangle, then cut it into thin strips about 4 to 5 inches long and 1⁄2 inch wide.
  7. Place each dough stick onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving a little space between them so they bake evenly.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The sticks should stay pale in the center.
  9. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the sticks cool completely. They will firm up as they cool.
  10. Place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring each time, until melted and smooth. Add the vegetable oil if you want a shinier, thinner chocolate coating.
  11. Dip one end of each cookie stick into the melted chocolate. Let the excess drip off.
  12. Place the dipped sticks back on parchment paper and allow the chocolate to set. You can place the tray in the refrigerator for 10 minutes to speed up the process.
  13. Once the chocolate is firm, serve immediately or store the sticks in an airtight container.
