Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters

These Chocolate Pecan Turtle Clusters are a classic Southern sweet—rich chocolate, buttery toasted pecans, and gooey caramel all come together in easy, bite-sized treats. Perfect for holidays, gifting, or anytime chocolate cravings strike.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups pecan halves
  • 12 oz (340 g) semi-sweet or milk chocolate, chopped or chips
  • ½ cup soft caramels, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream or milk
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Toast the pecans
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread pecans on a baking sheet and toast for 7–8 minutes, until fragrant. Let cool slightly.
  2. Melt the caramel
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine the caramels and cream. Stir constantly until smooth and melted. Remove from heat.
  3. Melt the chocolate
Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until smooth. (Or melt gently using a double boiler.)
  4. Assemble the clusters
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange small clusters of pecans (3–4 pecans each). Spoon a small amount of melted caramel over each cluster.
  5. Top with chocolate
Spoon or drizzle melted chocolate over the caramel-topped pecans, covering most of the cluster. Sprinkle lightly with salt if desired.
  6. Set the clusters
Let the clusters set at room temperature or refrigerate for 20–30 minutes, until firm.
  7. Serve or store
Once set, transfer to an airtight container.

✨ Tip: For a decorative finish, drizzle extra chocolate over the top once the first layer sets.
