Milk or cream1 tablespoonFor golden color on crust
Sugar (for sprinkling)1 tablespoonOptional, for sparkle

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
Set your oven to 425°F (220°C) and position the rack in the middle.
  2. Prepare the Apple Filling
    In a large bowl, combine:
    • Sliced apples
    • Granulated and brown sugar
    • Flour
    • Cinnamon
    • Nutmeg
    • Lemon juice
Toss well until apples are evenly coated.
  3. Assemble the Pie
Roll out one crust into a 9-inch pie dish. Gently press to fit.
Pour the apple filling into the crust and dot with butter cubes.
Cover with the second crust, sealing edges with your fingers or a fork. Cut small slits on top to let steam escape.
  4. Brush & Sprinkle
Mix the beaten egg with milk or cream.
Brush over the top crust and sprinkle with sugar for a golden, glossy finish.
  5. Bake
Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes, then reduce to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 30–35 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbly.
  6. Cool & Serve
Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing to allow the filling to set.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for the ultimate experience.

Tips for a Perfect Apple Pie

  • Mix apple types for the best texture — try Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji.
  • Chill your dough before baking for a flakier crust.
  • Add a drizzle of salted caramel sauce on top for an indulgent twist.
