Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4–5 medium potatoes (thinly sliced)
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef with the chopped onion until fully browned. Break the meat into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess fat.
Season the beef mixture with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Set aside.
In a bowl, mix together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth. This will be your creamy sauce.
Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the bottom of the baking dish, slightly overlapping them.
Add half of the cooked beef mixture over the potatoes, spreading it evenly.
Pour half of the soup mixture over the beef layer.
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, beef, and sauce.
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top, and return to the oven.
Bake uncovered for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the potatoes are tender.
Let the casserole rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow it to set.
