These Maple Cookies with Maple Icing are soft, rich, and full of warm maple flavor. With a tender cookie base and a sweet maple glaze on top, they’re perfect for fall baking, holidays, or anytime you want a cozy treat.
Ingredients
For the cookies:
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter (softened)
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the maple icing:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon milk (as needed)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
In a separate large bowl, cream the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add the egg, maple syrup, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Scoop small portions of dough and place them on the baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie. Flatten slightly with your fingers or the back of a spoon.
Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
Remove from the oven and allow the cookies to cool completely.
To make the icing, mix powdered sugar with maple syrup and a little milk until you reach a smooth, pourable consistency.
Drizzle or spread the icing over the cooled cookies and let it set.
