Ingredients
- 12 oz (340 g) elbow macaroni
- 2 cups cooked lobster meat (chopped)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 3 cups milk (warm)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
For topping:
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1–2 minutes to form a smooth roux.
Gradually pour in the warm milk while whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Add the heavy cream and continue stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
Add the cheddar, Gruyère (or mozzarella), and Parmesan cheese. Stir until fully melted and creamy.
Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and nutmeg. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
Add the cooked macaroni and lobster pieces into the cheese sauce. Gently fold everything together until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs with melted butter, then sprinkle evenly over the top.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
Let it rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the sauce to set slightly.
Serving Suggestions
Serve hot with a light salad or steamed vegetables to balance the richness. A squeeze of lemon over the top can also enhance the lobster flavor.
This dish is creamy, cheesy, and indulgent with a touch of elegance—perfect for turning a classic favorite into a memorable meal.
