This Herb & Cheese Quick Bread is savory, tender, and packed with cheesy, herby goodness. Made without yeast, it comes together quickly and is perfect served warm with soups, salads, or as a comforting side for any meal.
Ingredients
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried Italian herbs (or a mix of rosemary, thyme, and oregano)
1½ cups shredded cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
1 cup milk
1 large egg
¼ cup melted butter or vegetable oil
Instructions
Preheat and prepare
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
Mix dry ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and dried herbs. Stir in the shredded cheese until evenly coated.
Combine wet ingredients
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and melted butter until smooth.
Make the batter
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix—the batter will be thick.
Bake the bread
Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cool and serve
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and slice. Serve warm or at room temperature.
✨ Tip: Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with extra cheese or herbs during the last 10 minutes of baking for a flavorful crust.
