Easy Soft Christmas Peppermints

These Easy Soft Christmas Peppermints are a timeless holiday candy—smooth, creamy, and gently minty with a melt-in-your-mouth texture. They’re perfect for Christmas cookie trays, edible gifts, or a fun homemade treat to share with family and friends.

Ingredients

3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
3 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
½ tsp peppermint extract
Red food coloring (gel preferred)
Extra powdered sugar, for dusting

Instructions

Make the dough
In a large bowl, combine the powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and peppermint extract. Mix until a thick, smooth dough forms that is soft but not sticky.

Color the dough
Divide the dough into two equal portions. Leave one portion white. Add a small amount of red food coloring to the second portion and knead until evenly colored.

Shape the mints
Roll each portion into thin ropes of equal thickness. Gently twist one red rope with one white rope, then lightly roll to smooth the twist. Cut into small bite-size pieces.

Set the peppermint candies
Place the pieces on a parchment-lined tray. Lightly dust with powdered sugar and let them sit at room temperature for 2–4 hours, until set and slightly firm.

Serve or store
Once set, transfer to an airtight container. Store at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

✨ Tip: For a festive finish, lightly sprinkle crushed peppermint candy on top before the mints set.
