Noodles Romanoff is a rich, creamy comfort dish made with tender egg noodles folded into a velvety sour cream sauce and baked until lightly golden. This homestyle recipe is perfect as a cozy side dish or a satisfying main course when you want something warm and familiar.
Ingredients
Wide egg noodles 12 ounces
Unsalted butter 4 tablespoons
Cream cheese softened 4 ounces
Sour cream 1 cup
Milk 1/2 cup
Shredded sharp cheddar cheese 1 cup
Grated Parmesan cheese 1/2 cup
Onion powder 1/2 teaspoon
Garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt 1/2 teaspoon
Black pepper 1/4 teaspoon
Fresh parsley chopped 2 tablespoons
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the noodles
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package directions until just tender. Drain well and set aside.
Step 2: Prepare the creamy sauce
In a large saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the softened cream cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly, until the sauce is creamy and well blended.
Step 3: Add sour cream and seasonings
Remove the pan from heat. Stir in the sour cream, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.
Step 4: Combine noodles and sauce
Add the cooked noodles to the sauce and gently fold until all the noodles are evenly coated.
Step 5: Add cheese
Stir in the shredded cheddar and grated Parmesan cheese, reserving a small amount for topping if desired.
Step 6: Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Transfer the noodle mixture to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle any reserved cheese over the top. Bake uncovered for 25 to 30 minutes, or until hot, bubbly, and lightly golden on top.
Step 7: Garnish and serve
Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes. Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
Tips
This dish pairs well with roasted chicken or ham.
